Vignetting of a Wide Lens

Vignetting of a Wide Lens

This is an excellent example of vignetting (vin-yett-ing). With added filters on the camera AND a wide adapter the camera can see too much. The top of the Steadicam JR monitor is clearly visible and on the left hand side you can see the inner edges of the lens barrel. Be cautious when using any wide lens adapter because a camcorder's viewfinder typically does not display its picture in full underscan like a professional video camera or monitor. It's very easy to overlook things appearing in the lens' periphery. If you suspect your lens is shooting too wide just zoom in a little bit and that should solve the problem, unless you'd rather trade your lens in for something different...!
